Bed Bug Removal Toronto, ON

Does knowing that bed bugs don’t spread disease make them any less unsettling? Probably not! Despite being insects that cannot fly, bed bugs are expert crawlers, moving quickly across floors, walls, and ceilings to feed on human blood and cause sleepless nights. A bed bug infestation is one of the most stressful and frustrating pest problems that homeowners and tenants can face. Left untreated, bed bugs can multiply rapidly, hiding in mattresses, furniture, baseboards, and even electrical outlets, making bed bug removal a critical and urgent task. Choosing the right bed bug extermination company in Toronto and the GTA can make all the difference, as effective results rely heavily on the expertise of the pest control technician and the type of treatment used.

Bed Bug Extermination & Treatment

Conventional Bed Bug Treatment (Spray and Dust):
One of the most commonly used methods for bed bug extermination is conventional treatment using chemical sprays and dust. This approach involves applying EPA-approved insecticides directly to infested areas, including cracks, crevices, baseboards, and furniture. Dust formulations are particularly effective in hard-to-reach areas, where bed bugs often hide. Conventional treatments are a reliable and proven method for bed bug removal, especially when combined with a thorough inspection and follow-up visits. At 360 Wildlife Control, we use targeted, safe, and effective sprays and dusts to eliminate bed bugs while minimizing exposure to residents and pets.

Heat Treatment:
Heat treatment is a chemical-free method of bed bug extermination that involves raising the temperature of an infested room or property to a level lethal to bed bugs and their eggs. Bed bugs cannot survive sustained temperatures above 120°F (49°C), making this a highly effective method for complete eradication. Heat treatment penetrates furniture, mattresses, and other hiding spots that chemical treatments may not fully reach, providing fast and thorough bed bug removal. Our team at 360 Wildlife Control uses professional-grade heating equipment to ensure the temperature is evenly distributed and maintained long enough to eliminate the infestation entirely.

Steam Treatment:
Steam treatment is another safe and environmentally friendly method of bed bug removal. High-temperature steam is applied directly to infested surfaces, such as mattresses, bed frames, baseboards, and furniture, instantly killing bed bugs and their eggs on contact. Steam treatment is ideal for sensitive areas where chemicals are not recommended, such as children’s bedrooms or nursing homes. At 360 Wildlife Control, our trained technicians use specialized steam equipment to penetrate cracks and crevices, ensuring that all bed bugs are eradicated while providing an eco-friendly and chemical-free solution for bed bug extermination.

How to Prevent Bed Bugs

  • Ensure it’s actually bed bugs in your home — not ticks, fleas, or any other insects. Different pests require different kinds of pest control. Bed bug treatment and bed bug extermination are for bed bugs only and sometimes not applicable to other insects.
  • Clean up any clutter to minimize hiding places.
  • Wash and dry-heat your blankets, bedspreads, bedsheets, and any clothes that regularly touch the floor.
  • Kill bed bugs using heat — carefully!
  • Keep others out of your home until the bed bugs have been dealt with — don’t let the bed bugs transfer to others!
  • Vacuuming can be used to remove some bed bugs, but heat is the best treatment.
  • Get professional help!

Bed Bug Cycle

EGGS – Just like many other creatures, the life of a bed bug begins with an egg. A female bed bug lays 1-5 eggs per day and can lay up to 500 eggs in one lifetime. These eggs have a milky white appearance.

NYMPHS – Nymphs is another word for young bed bugs. Before reaching the maturity stage, a bed bug usually molts 5 times. Even though nymphs are similar to adult bed bugs in appearance, they are quite a bit smaller and not yet sexually mature. Young nymphs are yellow-white, while nymphs that are older are reddish-brown. To complete the molting stage, nymphs need blood from an animal or human.

ADULTS – Just like the color of older nymphs, adult bed bugs also appear reddish-brown. Adult bed bugs usually feed weekly.

Type of Bed Bugs

Cimex Lectularius – This is the most common type of bed bug to find in your home. These bed bugs can adjust quickly to a human environment and usually live in a calm and moderate climate.

Cimex Adjunctus – These are also known as bat bugs and they are usually seen in tropical regions. This kind of bed bug feeds on bats, but sometimes they do feed on human hosts.

Cimex Hemipterus – Also known as tropical bed bugs, these feed on human beings but in tropical regions.

Haematosiphon Inodora – These are also known as barn swallow bugs. They usually feed on cliff swallows and their habitat is in swallow nests.

Make sure that you properly identify the type of bed bugs you’re dealing with before performing any bed bug treatment, pest control, and bed bug extermination. Not only will incorrect methods be ineffective, but they could also be harmful to your health.
